Virginia graduated from The American University in Cairo with a degree in Architecture. She currently works as a research assistant in the Architecture department in AUC. Her research interests are in urban-based and heritage-based design, and the impact these two fields have on each other as well as on contemporary urban concerns including sustainability, rapidly growing cities, and the role of heritage in a city’s identity and urban fabric. She interned for CA+Partners and freelanced as an architect alongside research for several months before focusing solely on research and publishing her work in a Q1 journal as well as several international conferences.
Engaged Sustainable Futures offers a platform for interdisciplinary ventures that aim to uncover the many possible sustainable futures of the built environment. Based in the Department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo, ESF MAM-BE achieves its vision through research, pedagogy, and creation.
