Maya Saad is a senior undergraduate student at the American University in Cairo, majoring in Architectural Engineering with minors in Bioinformatics and Anthropology. She is deeply interested in the intersection of architecture and the environment, focusing on sustainable design, cultural narratives, and structural integrity. In 2024, she won the At Junction of Cultures IDEO redesign competition and was nominated for the Soraya Al-Torki Prize for ethnographic writing. She is also a member of the pioneering team behind Magaz, a broadcast channel dedicated to exploring the anthropomorphic nature of Cairo and its intersection with daily life. Maya has joined ESF with the aim of further developing her passion for architecture and research, and her goal is to contribute innovative, sustainable solutions to the built environment.
Engaged Sustainable Futures offers a platform for interdisciplinary ventures that aim to uncover the many possible sustainable futures of the built environment. Based in the Department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo, ESF MAM-BE achieves its vision through research, pedagogy, and creation.
