Ahmed Marey is a computational designer who focuses on the development of digital workflows, sustainability solutions, and several simulation programs, mainly used for early-stage experimentation and thereby combining architecture and computation. He graduated with a bachelor of science in Architectural Engineering (AUC). He is currently working as a teaching and research assistant at the American University in Cairo. His research interests include shape grammars, building envelopes, and computation. Ahmed has also been recognized as one of the “100 exceptional young Arabs under the age of 35 in various fields including the sciences, arts, business, politics, and humanities” at the World Government Summit under the category of Arab Youth Pioneers in 2018.
Engaged Sustainable Futures offers a platform for interdisciplinary ventures that aim to uncover the many possible sustainable futures of the built environment. Based in the Department of Architecture at the American University in Cairo, ESF MAM-BE achieves its vision through research, pedagogy, and creation.
